About (Re)Visions

It all started when…

I founded (Re)Visions in 2017, with the goal of helping other writers to put their best work forward. The formative experience that led me to work as a dissertation coach and editor is finishing my PhD in Educational Studies in 2016 at the University of British Columbia.

I have met many PhD students who are overwhelmed by the challenges involved in the dissertation process. Many people (me included) have not done academic work on this scale prior to starting a PhD. Personally, I often felt blind to everything beyond the very next step I had to take.

During the six years of my program, I learned valuable lessons about conducting research and writing well. I felt a sense of pride in designing my own research project, carrying out fieldwork in Guatemala, and turning my project into a 250-page dissertation and a few journal articles.

My dissertation supervisor, Claudia Ruitenberg, was especially generous as an editor and mentor. She often “thought with” me, acting as a collaborator in ways that moved my writing process along.

Likewise, I enjoy learning with and from my clients. I work with master’s and PhD students on every stage of their journey, from their initial research proposal to the final edits of their thesis. I have supported students’ research on topics as diverse as entrepreneurship education in Africa, the integration of technology in public schools in the US, the “War on Drugs“ in Colombia, and various facets of Indigenous education in Canada.

I am confident I can put my skills and knowledge to use for your writing project, no matter what stage you’re at in the process. Find out for yourself the great things we can do together.
